No I used allied infantry and had no vehicles. That lack of vehicles freed up points and allowed multiple infantry platoons. The US paratroopers also had PzF. The US when dashed had higher speeds. I would use multiple infantry platoons to surround an opponent. As I said that was under v1/2/3 rules. With v4 allowing 360 degree MG, there are no rear holes for tank platoons. I got back into WWII during the pandemic and have not been able to actually play a game sine January of 2020. German infantry move entirely different thanks to stormtrooper. Storm trooper is a hair slower in v1/2/3, but much safer. Now the US has no speed in movement but German infantry still have storm trooper.

I see. Something I will have to think about, the half tracks would help to soften and pin dug-in infantry...perhaps having the mobility with the half tracks is better than having artillery? (Just a thought)

It goes back to playstyle. Halftracks as an escort to the infantry have a lot of good attributes. Due to organic AT with infantry, mounted assault is probably no longer a positive. But is the H/T ROF better than what arty can offer?

Arty is now very expensive, and you get a single successful smoke screen. As in previous versions, arty takes time to be successful. Depending on actual dice rolls, you may not even need to use infantry to assault infantry as Arty can eliminate a dug in platoon.

If your opponent runs a lot of armor, Halftracks may be the way to go. But not as infantry transport, but giving you the chance to get the 7,5cm halftrack platoon. Running that platoon plus the occasional 3,7cm gun can give the german infantry almost a "horde" like feel to an opponent.
