Nice list. Did the IL-2 do anything?

Did he run across any Tigers?

I’m not sure as I was not at this event. I do know he went 8-1 in all three rounds.

It is quite similar to the list I'm preparing of 100 points.
I was reluctant considering its vulnerabilities to marders and AT guns as the pak 40.

Tom asked me to stop by and answer some questions about my list, so here they are:

IL-2’s did pretty well, they killed an entire Brit Armoured car platoon, and some 6 pdrs in game 1, 3-4 valentines (with bombs!) in game 2, and bailed a KV in game 3. I played a Brit list and two Soviet lists, so no Tigers or Marders, but I did see 17pdrs (mortar bait), KV’s (attacked the other objective) and Churchill’s (ran from them, as I was holding both objectives as attacker when they rolled on).

I like the T-34’s as the speed and that extra point of armor over the Lees really pays off. The IL-2’s are my anti-Marder tool,and the mortars take on the AT guns. I’m not sure if I want to keep the Molotov cocktail card — never assaulted armor in any games, but might try the card that lets me move the ranged in marker.

Congratulations for winning the tourney and thank you for the report. I do understand that most of your oponents were leading tank companies, weren't they?

I see the list quite robust if facing tank lists. There are not so many tanks able to deal effectively with FA 6. And the ones capable are far too expensive.

My concern with the tankovy list is if facing a defensive list full of infantry and AT guns. Do you thing the tankovy will be able to overcome the drawbacks?

At least we have the SMG platoon in the formation, not like the panzers.

It really amazes me how the top players can win multiple games 8-1 in tourneys. I can win games but they are usually close nail biters with both sides being bloodied. So good job on the good wins. With a list like yours I am afraid of a marder or pak40 ambush. My store escalation league is trying to stay red vs blue. 8 shots hitting on 2s would seem to eliminate 1 tank unit fairly quickly.

There’s always an element of luck of the draw when it comes to matchups at tourneys.

Things could go wrong pretty quick vs. PaKs and Marders, but there’s still chance to save at range and FP checks. Massing against either the PaKs or the Marders often works well. I’ve been running Germans Inf a lot vs Tankovy these days. Even with ambushed, I seldom seem to take down a Soviet Tank Company in a one turn volley.
