Got my book today and specialist observers are mentioned for Arty spotting but I couldn't find any in the book. Am I missing it?

Interesting. BF customer service has my book going out next week, but I don't recall ever hearing about specialist observers, in this version or previous ones.

Likely a "it's part of the V4 rule set" inclusion, with the potential of follow on content to include these observers. If I recall, 1918 was when these forward artillery controllers were starting to become a thing.

I could see large games on a 6x4 or 8x4 table using specialist observers in friendly play.

Hi not been on this forum for a while after reviewing the info on the new book I am very glad I did not pre-order. FOW died at my club like many others due to V4 and frankly after discussions no interest in going forward with this new edition for the great war. In V3 British and German infantry confident and trained infantry platoons had different points costs but had similiar basic stats on 3+ to be hit. Special rules did allow Brits to hit on assault on a 3+ Instead of 4 for Jerries. Now we have German platoon on basic 10 points up to 11 if 1 rifle grenadier stand used with same stats special rules as V3. Brit line infantry however upgraded to 4+ to be hit same special rules points cost 11 but have 1 extra rifle grenadier stand. So better stats slightly more firepower with 1 extra rifle greandier stand but same points no brainer to take brits over germans

No. Support is usually tanks, Artillery, and snipers. Artillery can be line or vet, the rest usual only have one option.
Playing Flames of War (main focus) and its variants, Bolt Action, Test of Honor, SW Legion, SW Armada, and now....Cruel Seas
