NDNG Wants You: User Content for the Community

Gamers are a not a shy breed and they have no problem creating, adapting, expanding, and even re-writing the games they play. New forces, linked campaigns, missions and new rules are some of the things I have seen created to help expand the games we play and bring some excitement into our community. So with this said, NDNG is now asking you to share the ideas you have an some of the content you have created. Starting with the  for written by some of our staff we plan to bring you user created content to expand your gaming experience.

I have been approached by so many gamers who have a lot of great ideas. Well now if you want share what you have created with us please send us a draft of your project to  and we will work with you to make it a good final product suitable to share with other gamers. You will get full credit for your ideas and in return you can have the satisfaction that you have helped other players to enjoy the games they play.

I cannot wait to hear from you and see what great stuff you have come up with.

NoDiceNoGlory Turns One

NDNG came to life on 1 Jan 2018 when a few writers from WWPD.net decided to carry on bringing our community great content about what is going on in our hobby. Over the year the core group grew from five writers to almost 20 contributors who really do cover war gaming roll by role.

When we started we didn’t want to be just another review site or flood our readers with after-action reports that gave little insight into the games we cover. When we first created the site I reached out to Pete Simunovich at Battlefront and asked him to see if we could have a similar relationship with his company as WWPD did. He said something that has stuck with me ever since;

…. Are you a site that promotes the hobby with inspiration for hobbyists and a touchstone for hobbyists
or another review site? The first one is much harder but much more rewarding I think.

The Lady in the Dress: NDNG Welcomes Sylvia

Interview by Troy Hill, Photos courtesy of Sylvia Urquhart Smith

No Dice No Glory is pleased to introduce the newest member of our staff, Sylvia Urquhart Smith.

Sylvia is a common attendee at major gaming events and was recently reporting live from the NOVA Open when Mitch Reed got to talk to her. He was able to convince her to lend her talents and experience in the table-top gaming scene to us here at NDNG.

If you’ve been to an event with Sylvia, you’re likely to remember her as “the lady in the dress,” due to the unique 1950 style of dress she wears to be easily recognizable.

Here on NDNG, you can expect to see her posting and interacting in our social media feeds.

I recently began corresponding with Sylvia, to learn more about how she became involved in gaming.

Gamers may know Sylvia’s husband, Steve Urquhart Smith, from his involvement in designing, writing, and playing games. His most recent efforts have been directed at the upcoming Korea book for Bolt Action from Warlord Games.

Below is my conversation with Sylvia, edited for grammar and length.

Armada: “Now don’t get jittery, Luke…”

SSD Expansion (Copyright Lucasfilm Ltd)

Fantasy Flight Games (FFG) unveiled at GenCon 2018 one of the most anticipated and requested starships for Star Wars Armada: The Executor-Class Super Star Destroyer. That’s right, the infamous command ship of Darth Vader. FFG proudly showed off their largest produced “mini” measuring in at 24″ long, and mounted on two large-ship stands! The expansion is packed with special upgrades including two new admirals, Admiral Piett and even Emperor Palpatine himself!

Welcome to No Dice No Glory! – Welcome Gamers!

Welcome to No Dice No Glory.

If you’re joining us here, we share something in common.  We love to game.  And here in 2018 as this website opens its doors for the first time, we as gamers are spoiled for choices.  Board Games, Web-based games, PC, and console all have their draws.

But for me, Mitch, Iron-Tom and our other writers, I don’t think anything holds a candle to an awesome tabletop game.  Seeing painted miniatures on the table.  Learning about history.  Getting to share techniques with others and admiring the work of a lot of great people is one of the reasons I got into this hobby in the first place.  We here at No Dice No Glory hope to provide a forum for you gamers and a source of inspiration for new players everywhere around the world.
