There’s a new ship on the horizon, from . She made her debut at Hurricon 2019, and her victims – err, Firelock Fans – got to see her in action. However, No Dice No Glory got a sneak peek of her stat cards, and I’m here to share them with you. And while everyone else was raiding Area-51, I was able to sneak into the dockyards at Firelock and get some pics of a finished model from the incredibly talented Rick Casler of . So, pour yourselves a mug of grog, and let me regale with my tale.

Stop me if this sounds familiar: reports state that an enemy fleet is forming for an impending attack. The reports are waved off; who would be audacious enough to attack a fleet in a sheltered harbor, especially when ambassadors are in peace negotiations? Even so, the attack materializes on the 7th day of the month, and confusion reigns. In the midst of the chaos, a heroic sailor mans a gun alone, while the ship burns around him. In the end, sixteen warships are left burning, capsized, or at the bottom of the harbor. Sunk along with them, is the pride of a nation.
Owl Central Games is fast becoming the new hot-spot for tabletop gaming in Central PA. Recently, they became the first Firelock retailer in the state, and I was happy to run a celebratory Blood & Plunder kick-off event!
Owl Central has been serving the Reading area gaming scene since it opened in 2015. Moreover, they have been in the ‘Magic: the Gathering’ online buy/sell business for another three years on top of that. The owner, Wes, began 2019 with a mission: he wanted to nurture a healthy tabletop scene in his shop. That’s where a few passionate individuals come in. Owl Central now boasts a pair of Firelock ‘Quartermasters’ and a ‘Sarge’ from Warlord games to run demos and organized play events in the store.

It seems that 2019 has a preoccupation with naval wargaming. Heart of Leviathan by is gaining steam, and Warlord Games recently launched Cruel Seas. has put their new 1:600 scale fleet game ‘Oak & Iron’ on prerelease. But, stands head-and-shoulders above all the rest – literally. Unlike the other games which are 1:1200 scale, 1:600 scale, or even 1:300 scale; Blood & Plunder does naval combat in 1:48 scale.

Another is in the books. The 2019 installment was a blast and much different than the others I have attended. The new location and running a tournament for a new game made the experience of this year’s event one I will think about for a long time. It also marked the biggest collection of the NDNG staff under one roof.

As many of you know I am all about anything dealing with the Great War. I have always felt that the Great War is underrepresented in the gaming community so I am quick to promote any new game that truly captures the war on my gaming table.
Blood and Valor is a new game that will be out later in 2019 that gives the Great War an amazing skirmish level game and since it by the guys from you know it is going to be an amazing game that will be a must for your collection.
Here is my truth in advertising statement, as soon as I heard about the game I begged the developers my services as a playtester. While my statements in this article are based in fact, they are also from helping out the developers. Another caveat to this article I want to bring up is that this article is based on a version of the game that is still in the draft/playtest phase of production, so things may change.
