Hey guys, No Dice, No Glory hosted this year’s Cold Wars 2018 Team Yankee tournament. Mitch ably organized the event, with generous support from Battlefront (and lovely scenery from them as well) I was the ringer, and while we were able to fill the 14th slot with various players, it meant I could take lots of pictures and video (at the end of article) as well. Enjoy!
No Dice, No Glory’s own Glenn Goddard getting flanked by Pete’s Spearheading East German BMPs
A well-painted East German army is always a joy to see on the tabletop. By Pete Z
Unrealistic-looking, but behind the hedge were scout BRDMs that enabled that mass of BMPs to spearhead past the minefields. Very sneaky.
Rooftop observer posts for the Infantry formation command, so they could spot for the LARS trucks.
Safest place on the table is within 8-inches of TOW teams.
This warms my heart: Gepard-on-Gepard action. The Luchs and Marders return fire would wipe out Joe R’s outflanking Gepards.
This British-German coalition is reinforcing the enduring symbol of Capitalism: Big Macs!
Looks like Jeff is in a heap of trouble here, out in the West German countryside table.
Not many players took air, given that they go down to a 10knot crosswind in Team Yankee, so these Rolands are on Objective Contesting duty whilst the Chieftains wipe out some soviet armour in that crop.
T-55s were a popular choice for any Communist player, as they clean up everything lighter than an MBT.
M1’s come on from Reserves, easily negotiating that hedgerow with their 2+ cross check, but not sure they can deal with THAT much infantry.
True to tactics, the Reds come on in a swarm.
Beautiful British force. Love those tiny vehicles, not sure why.
Ed D ponders what unit to Spearhead after his Luchs on the Vineyards table.
If it works in WW2… Jaguars, ready to Blitz up the slope and fire at any pesky MBTs
Defending their country from the reds. Beautiful vehicles and infantry.
Joe R deploys his vulnerable LARS trucks behind an AA umbrella behind a hill behind a forest… Can never be too safe, right?
Abbots by the Church. Perfect.
<drive-through teen voice> “I’m sorry, no, we don’t have any Happy Meals, its only 8 am.”
BTRs making use of good Road Dash.
Pete again using superior numbers of the East German shock army to press home the attack, this time on the Vineyards table. Pete would end up first overall (if memory serves) and would follow up with a 2nd overall in the Flames tournament, but that’s for another article, my friends!
It was nice to meet everyone and to catch up with old friends as well. As always, I have some video footage also:
