Konflikt 47 2000pt game British and USA vs. Germans
By Chris Masucci
After a long hiatus this weekend the community at Mythicos Studios was finally able to get out and organize a game of This was a four-player game with 2000 pts total on each side, and the allies made up of a British and American coalition faced off against the Germans in an attempt to stop them from gaining further ground at the end of 1947 comes to a close.
The two forces sported a variety of units as the US infantry force with some walker and an AT gun half-track for support. The British force aimed for a more armored fist approach with power armored infantry and lots of heavy armor. In opposition, the German forces utilized a large horde of zombies backed up by walkers, artillery, and a single light tank.
The mission would be hold ground with five objectives placed around vital points in a local European town. Both forces would be entering the board via the first wave and neither force would be utilizing reserves. The players only had 6 turns to battle it out before objectives would be calculated.
The game began with the allies taking the initiative, the British captain ordering his armor to secure the town square, the heavy rumbling of a comet tank drew louder as the heavy vehicle took a firing position near the square. A merlin mech moved up and began to lay suppressing fire onto the German lines.
The US officer took a more conservative approach, moving infantry up to the village walls slowly and readying the 57mm half-track for the incoming enemy armor. Soon German forces approached the firing lines and began to fire with their mech support. A US jeep erupted in a fiery explosion and the British comet took a hit which shattered one of its track sections, immobilizing the vehicle near the town square.
The Merlin walker struck back, destroying a locust walker while the 57mm half-track took some shots and downed the second locust. Seeing an opening, the allied forces took advantage, moving troops up to meet the German forces who were now on the defensive. The British artillery began to fire, suppressing multiple German units, but scoring no direct hits.
A German nebelwerfer returned fire, peppering the entire square with shells. Just as the Allies looked to have the upper hand, disaster struck. The Americans call for air support backfired as the inexperienced pilot mistook the British lines for the enemy. A fighter bomber began its attack run, firing cannons and dropping explosives all over allied lines, sending friendly infantry units scattering as they routed under the fierce attack. The British captain was able to escape as most of his surrounding units were turned to ash under the misplaced air attack.
Seeing their opportunity now, the Germans launched a counterattack with a crack team of veterans moving into the square and destroying the Merlin with a well-placed panzerfaust round. The German infantry and artillery were on the attack and a horde of zombies were slowly approaching the allied lines. Needing to turn the tide, the allies pushed their remaining forces forward yet to chip away at the attacking German infantry and secure lost ground.
The german pz38t, with no anti-tank assets left on the allied side, barring the immobilized comet, quickly maneuvered into the US lines to begin its attack. The US half-track was heavily pinned down by the 38ts cannon while the US artillery position was destroyed by the tanks offensive. Formulating a plan, the British captain moved his remaining infantry to attack the town square a final time, with the Germans securing the back-right side of the village, the allies needed to secure their right flank or risk losing the vital ground.
The British Galahad troops along with the remaining US troops carved their way through a horde of undead as they attempted to grab the objectives. The battle was finally over as the 5 Galahad troopers, the last of their squad rushed the center objective, cutting down the German commander and finishing off turn six with the allies at three pts to the German two.
