Welcome to No Dice No Glory! – Welcome Gamers!

Welcome to No Dice No Glory.

If you’re joining us here, we share something in common.  We love to game.  And here in 2018 as this website opens its doors for the first time, we as gamers are spoiled for choices.  Board Games, Web-based games, PC, and console all have their draws.

But for me, Mitch, Iron-Tom and our other writers, I don’t think anything holds a candle to an awesome tabletop game.  Seeing painted miniatures on the table.  Learning about history.  Getting to share techniques with others and admiring the work of a lot of great people is one of the reasons I got into this hobby in the first place.  We here at No Dice No Glory hope to provide a forum for you gamers and a source of inspiration for new players everywhere around the world.

Historicon 2017

My name is Tom Mullane and I will be posting regularly here on No Dice No Glory, and working as one of our lead content editors and writers.  I was a writer for WWPD under the pen name “Captainecho” since 2015. I have played in countless tournaments and events around the North East. I currently work as a high school social studies teacher in NY.

I came to miniature wargaming fairly late, I began playing Flames of War in 2011 at the urging of one of my students (I teach high school social studies).  One demo game later and I was hooked.  These were the experiences I was looking for.  If you had told me ten years ago that I would have three full armies of painted miniatures and a closet that looked like this….

My Closet

I would have called you crazy.

And if you had told me that the pictures I took on my phone this year were 80% this….

I would have told you the same thing.

Mitch Reed and Tom Burgess have built this blog and website to help carry on the WWPD tradition of bringing gamers together, providing reviews and previews of the models and games we love, and helping spread the word about the hobby and game we spend so much time in.

In this task we have had a lot of help.  Troy Hill has joined us as a lead editor and contributor.  “Matt Varnish” and Matt Mckenzie have joined us from Dice Devils in Canada. Ed Sales, Glenn Goddard, Dane Tkacs are all joining us as writers.

We are looking to continue the awesome content posted by WWPD‘s Bolt Action authors as well.  Much of what we have planned is discussed in our first podcast with Sean Sarah, Tom Burgess, Mitch Reed and myself, so if you haven’t listened, yet, please check it out.

I’ve come a long way in this hobby, and with WWPD‘s Steve, Jon and Luke moving on to new adventures, I wanted to pass along the same sense of community I got as a new player visiting their site.  They gave me my start as a writer, a place to read cool reports and previews, and none of us here at No Dice No Glory want to see that go by the wayside.  We hope you’ll come on this journey with us and help this hobby continue to grow.  Stay tuned for new and exciting content.  And if there are any aspiring writers or bloggers out there, please never hesitate to give me a buzz.

  1. Sounds great!
Would love to send a few lines about how we play and what we play – so how to contact you?

  2. Hello, I have been reading WWPD for years. I really started enjoying the focus in the last year or two some of the content had on Armada. I was wondering, will you have a space for FFG games? Specifically, I wanted to see if there would be a space for the upcoming FFG Star Wars Legion?

    1. We are working to transfer over the WWPD forums so will bring all existing sections over with it. I’m an Armada player too. I have X-wing as well but really have not played it much since Armada came out. I am interested in SW Legions, but if it follows the X-wing to Armada route I’d rather wait on a larger scale SW tactical game with smaller scale models, AT-ATs please. But who am I kidding! It’s Star Wars and I’m not waiting on anything! šŸ˜‰

  3. I would be interested in writing something up at some point about SW Legion, if you want that content for your site. Let me know via email.

  5. I am a transplanted Canadian now living in Los Angeles, who has been playing FOW since 2006.

It seems that wargaming has always been a part of my life, but it is miniatures wargaming in particular that has let me find deep satisfaction from modelling and painting; competition, tournaments and campaigns; camaraderie and community.

I look forwards to reading and participating in this website!

  6. All the best on the new venture. I just started playing Team Yankee in Chicagoland last year.
We have a good group going, about 10 of us at our local FLGS. I love the idea of online campaign or scenarios. I would love to see a terrain building based video series as well. No Dice No Glory swag anyone?

  7. I hope to see a lot of great reviews and AAR’s on here… hope everyone gets the fever to write up their games (I’m horrid at doing that, myself, so IronTom submits most of the time)…

And hope to see a lot of piccies of nice modelling and interesting actions!

    Congrats on the launch!
