NDNG Podcast – Austin and Ed on FOW

In this Podcast, Austin and Ed discuss new looks and insight to help give a competitive edge. After the introduction, Austin talks the difference between taking red steel vs Soviet lend-lease tanks. Ed then talks about the supreme of Italians after the Eastern Front books.

Austin and Ed would love to hear your thoughts! Is there a rule or tactic you’d like them to look at? Is there a list you’d like to run but not sure if it is competitive? Let us know in the comments or on the forum and they will make it work for you. If you’d like to join them as a special guest, we’d love to have you join the discussion.

  1. Great stuff guys! Personally This is exactly what I want to hear in a podcast.

Some topics I would like to see covered is effective list building for infantry lists to be able to stop these hard striking tank lists. Also discussion on the current meta on team yankee as well as how the new Warsaw pact lists (T-62’s, czechs and poles) will affect the meta of they will at all

  2. Nathaniel, could you be more detailed on the Infantry lists stopping tank lists? I ask because depending on Early War, Mid War, or Late War, the tactics and ways to deal with them change. Is there a certain nation you use or are facing, the more info the better!

We will try to address this for the next podcast if you are able to get us more info in time.

    1. mostly talking about mid war and how to deal with very specialized heavy hitting tank lists that throw everything at you. this can include but is not limited to italian tanks, soviet front armor 6 spam, american lee companies and british swarms. i personally play italian infantry but would like to hear what your thoughts on each nations strength and weakness for there infantry.

  3. Very well done gents! “Austin” mentioned that you can’t take 31 T34’s anymore and shove them at you opponent. I would agree. So what is the tactic? Use cover and….then shove them at your enemy? I’m looking at the cards and thinking that the “Uparmoured T34″ is a good option to make the primary attacking unit more survivable. Having FA7 and SA 6 is very stout, although you give up 2” of tactical. It is expensive at +2 per tank but since you can’t buy veteran status (best armor in the game inmho) it might be a viable option for a 5 or 6 tank unit. I also love the “Kill One More” card for 4points that allow those guys a second remount roll in the shooting step and to shoot if they pass it! What do you guys think? Dump all those goodies into a single unit that still gets hit on 2s…hmmmm. Not sure.

    1. Your right about the Vet status is the best armor. Hmm, lets see in a platoon of 5 T-34, you spend 10 more points on the better armor. I think buying two more tanks… or better yet a support option (In the form of a template weapon to get rid of pesky AT guns) may be the way to go.

Just as I am steering away from Scout Tanks upgrade, Maybe buying 1 per platoon to mistaken target to??

  4. Nice podcast. I agree with the post on the forum saying that it is a bit advanced for beginners though.

I’d love a podcast on how to build a certain list, explaining what does what, how to play against specific other lists or list archetypes (which match up is easy, which one is hard) and explaining how to do a all the missions. The malifaux podcast schemes and stones has done this mastefully.

Lancia is pronounced Lan-ch-a (*ch* as in check) and not Lan-s-ia.

      1. I would do the occasional podcast dedicated to beginners and their concerns. Like that you don‘t have to dumb down the regular podcast.

  5. Like the discussion. FYI – The secondary weapon (37mm) on the Lee may fire at a different target. It’s listed on the back of the card.

  6. Great episode!

I would like your input on some lists where you would combine a British formation and a US formation. And most of all, British Infantry with USA tanks.
    Thanks in advance.
