The German Eichenlaubmuster, also known as Oak Leaf, camouflage pattern began being issued in 1941 and was used by the Waffen SS until the end of the war. Below are the steps I take when I paint Oak Leaf camouflage. The paints I used are Vallejo’s German Cam. Pale Brown (825), German Cam. Black Brown (822), German Cam. Dark Green (979), and German Cam. Bright Green (833).
Base the camouflage with a 1:1 mix of German Cam Black Brown and German Cam Pale Brown.Highlight with German Cam. Pale Brown.
Apply asymmetrical, amoeba-shaped patches of German Cam. Dark Green over approximately 1/2 to 1/3 of the surface area. I applied mostly larger patches with some smaller patches.
Apply patches of German Cam. Bright Green over the dark patches. Try to keep the bright green patches within the dark green patches so that the bright green is bordered with dark green.
Apply small dots of German Cam. Dark Green over the bright green and brown patches.
Finish painting the rest of the piece and get it on the table!
