Historicon 2019: Blood, Plunder and Lancaster

Another is in the books. The 2019 installment was a blast and much different than the others I have attended. The new location and running a tournament for a new game made the experience of this year’s event one I will think about for a long time. It also marked the biggest collection of the NDNG staff under one roof.

Not to be ignored the folk at Warlord are also bringing Blood Red Skies into this new era with its MiG Alley expansion due out in August. Long known as the “Forgotten War” the Korean conflict holds a unique place in history. It was never officially a war and to this day it has not officially ended. Due to these circumstances, it does not hold a place in our memory and we often forget the sacrifices of those who fought in the first major hot conflict in a very long Cold War.

Air Force Wargamers Fight in the Blood Red Skies

It wasn’t an average Friday for the folks who run wargames at the Pentagon for the US Air Force, Instead of starting off their weekends, a few of these professional wargamers stuck around to play a game of in order to become familiar with the hobby side of wargaming.

Bands of Brothers: D-Day Airborne and Rangers

The movie Saving Private Ryan featured a group of US Rangers and Paratroopers working together to defend a bridge right after the invasion of Normandy. Now places the same forces at your command in their new D-Day book.

You will notice that like most V4 lists, these forces are focused more on the actual OOB of these units in 1944. This is due to the fact that if you wanted to play paratroopers in the past, you had to hope that they had the right support features you needed.

That is no longer a problem in V4, because now you have the flexibility to tailor your forces just how you want them.
