Hey gang, Matt Varnish here, and I drove down from Canada with my buddies Scott and Rob Kelly and we entered the Team Yankee Nationals. I brought the Syrians, Scott brought West Germans and Rob took his Canadians. I ended up playing four great people: Robb Carper, Nick Reid, Frank Paixao and Mason Partak I took a metric ton of pics, here we go, first off with Armies on Parade (before the event started).
Some of you may have read my where I reviewed the Magach and Pereh releases for the new Oil War book from . In this article I will talk about most of the remaining products from this release; the Merkava, M-113, Recce Jeeps, TOW Jeeps, and the Mechanized Rifle Platoon. With these new forces I feel I have a fun IDF force to play with in the near future.

Hey everyone, as I mentioned in the podcast and on my Syrians article, Battlefront neglected to show off the cool Syrian paint schemes and left newer players high and dry in terms of cool pictures. I am here to fix that. We will look at building a killer HQ tank with ERA armour blocks, then general painting of vehicles and the 3 main schemes, then infantry at the end. All paints are Vallejo unless otherwise noted. Yalla, let’s go!
Starting with the standard plastic T-55, I added side skirts, the modern HMG and some old Mine plows I had left over from the T-72s. Used the flat front hull, not the up-armoured one.If you play any games from Battlefront you will want to hear this episode. We have Pete Simunovich with us and he tell us about all the great new stuff coming from Battlefront. Loads of spoilers you cannot miss!

Right now, you can play a lot of rulesets: every history age, from chariot warfare to modern skirmish, sci-fi, and fantasy, any scale from 6 mm to 1/48. However, if you are an aged wargamer in his thirties or forties, youll probably have been looking for a ruleset to play with younger players. They could be those teenager guys at the club still playing Warhammer 40K and lingering on something deeper or different, or your own kids whove seen you playing obscure rulesets like so difficult to understand when you dont know exactly what is happening on the table, but still wanting to play with daddy.
Tanks: The Modern Age (TMA) is a really good solution. Its a fast, inexpensive set of rules (24 Dollars or 23 Euros) for tactical skirmishes. You can play almost everywhere since it needs a relatively small surface, and you can reuse your Team Yankee vehicles (or FOW ones, if you prefer the original Tanks, set in WW2 the rules are pretty the same). Most importantly, you can teach the rules in 15 minutes even to your grandmother in law.

The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) makes its third appearance in the Team Yankee/Flames of War universe in Oil War. Having been an IDF player in the Fate of a Nation (1st and 2nd Ed), I volunteered to review them in Oil War. I was particularly keen to see how much of my previous Fate of a Nation collection would carry forward to the circa 1985 period.

Its almost here. The long-awaited Oil Wars hits the shelves in a few short days. I have been lucky enough to get a sneak peak at it and more importantly, I have permission to share what I have seen.
Oil Wars covers the armies of the Middle East at the time of the fictional WWIII portrayed by Team Yankee. Iran and Iraq have been at war for four years and both find their armies rejuvenated by an influx of equipment, advisors, and direct support from their respective superpower benefactors.
With the release of Oil Wars, the new book for just about to be spoiled in about a week we here at NDNG want to give you another force to use with this new release. Manning the southern and eastern most flank of NATO sits the Turkish army, ready to fight against the USSR. However alongside this threat the Turkish nations sits near other hot-spots of the mid 1980’s. Turkey also borders the nations of Iraq and Iran, two nations that are represented in the new Oil Wars book.
I hope you have seen the article on NDNGs narrative Team Yankee event we are holding at Cold Wars. This article is meant to get you thinking about what lists you may want to bring to the event.
First of all, as long as you keep to the same side, you can change your lists each game, how many events let you do that? Actually, changing lists is key to the event and I hope I can spell this out to you here.
I know many of you felt 55 points is too low for an event. Well, this would be true if it wasnt for the fact that for each game you will be teamed up with a partner. This partner will be based on what lists and players will work well together during each round, and your commanders (Chris Jackson is SACEUR and Tim Hladon will be the GSFG commander) will pick teams each round.
Both commanders are great guys so if you wanted to play with a particular partner, I am sure they honor your requests. By picking partners at the event we can have newer players learn from some of the old sweats.
