A Colonial in the Mother Country – Warlord Open Day 2021

By Scott Roach

Before I begin my experience, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr John Stallard, the Managing Director and his excellent staff at Warlord Games for making this first experience a memorable one (Oh and no, I don’t get any kickbacks or benefits from Warlord Games). It was also great to catch up with Jon Russell (That’s us together at the top) who I met (virtually) during a Podcast hosted by my “Valhal Brother” Mitch Reed.

I have, where possible tried to capture the names and responsibilities of the staff in my pictures. Apologies for any I get wrong!

Pirates, Fleets, and Trenches – Historicon 2021 Tournament Signups!

By Tom “Cap’n Chairborne” Mullane

As the leaves turn, and the winds grow chilly, Historicon will soon be upon us. This coming November 11 through 14 many of us are coming together for the first time in a long time to get some gaming in. Glenn Van Meter, Tyler Stone, and Tom Mullane (the Tails of the Sail gentlemen) have quite a bit planned in terms of Firelock Games this time around. Tom will also be wearing a Spanish Conquistador outfit, because he lost a bet.

Signups are happening now on the Community Page for under events. So please sign up soon. We have available slots, and loaner armies, but those spots won’t wait forever. Check below for the specifics of each tournament. (Blood and Plunder, Oak and Iron, Blood and Valor). And remember, Firelock is providing a special prize to anyone brave enough to play in all three events.

Bulge American, the US answer for Late War is ready – and it’s a solid “Nuts”!

By Paolo “Nuts!” Paglianti

The Russian has the ISU-122; the British can count on a double M10 17 PDR Troop, and Germans – well – they have plenty of Tigers, Panthers, and the cheap Panzer IV/70. The only army missing AT 14, the punch any player needs to kill heavy tanks, is the American one. Well, until now!

After delays due to the Pandemic, we’re close to the Bulge American book publication. It will arrive in early November, but we at NoDiceNoGlory were lucky to get our hands on a preview copy. And American players will not be disappointed!

I Can Spam, and Now So Can You! (The Brave Romanians!)

By James Copland

Mid-War Romanians are coming, soon! (October maybe) I will frame this review/preview with this nugget of knowledge. Bring more MGs to all your list building. Did you add and MG Platoon? Ok, now add another one. I have friends who will smile and friends who will shudder at this statement, but Romanians are going to be a terror in MW Flames of War. So sit back, relax, as best you can while I show you how this force is a better elite army than Germany or Brits… a better spam force than the Soviets or Italians/Americans and superior to their fellow MW Axis Minors.

A Day at BarrageCon 2021

By Glenn Van Meter

This weekend I had the fortune of being able to attend BarrageCon in Havre De Grace, Maryland. It was hosted by the H.A.W.K.S. (Harford Area Weekly Krieg Spielers) gaming club on the 24th and 25th of September. I was only able to make it for Saturday the 25th. This was my first in-person convention in about 22 months and I was excited to get back out and see some old friends that I knew would be in attendance.

Flames of War Milan Tournament – back in action!

By Paolo Paglianti
Twenty players under the same wide room, throwing die and blaming luck, moving tin soldiers and plastic tanks. How long we missed this!  After two years of interruption, we began to live again our usual lives: as wargamers, it also means we are now back on business with our games! In Italy, they lifted the lockdown in Summer, but in Belpaese everything stops in August (Holiday time!) so we managed to create the first Flames of War tournament in mid-September.
