In this article, we’ll look after four 100 points lists you can now do with the new D-Day book, expanding the Fortress Europe basic list we all used in the last months.

Fallschirmjägers are the second army I did for Flames of War some ten years ago. Since then they have been one of my most played forces. Though I have not been above running them as Grenadiers in Mid-War, now we can officially play them as a Mid-War Version 4 force option. The new Death From Above books adds Fallschirmjägers to our Africa, Sicily, and even East Front Mid-War Version 4 battlefield where they certainly are characterful and truly elite units.
On Saturday, August 3rd, Mythicos Games, along with Tom “Chairborne” Mullane, will be hosting a Flames of War tournament using the new Late War points and books.

The Battlefront plan is simple and bright.
Deploy the Fortress Europe book to start off the Late Period Flames of War V4, with all four principal armies in short form – good lists, but focused on the “general” armies after 1943 – and after that explore the various Late War theaters of war and their specific armies.
So, we’ve just finished drooling on Fortress Europe it’s already time to dive into a new, more specific book: ladies and gentlemen, time to get on our brand new Sherman 76mm and storm the D-Day beaches with your Late US army.

After reading through the new LW book, Fortress Europe, I decided to challenge a friend of mine for a quick match. We decided on 71 points, and I would play the role of the Germans, while he would play the Soviets.
I decided on a list that would let me try some of the well-known things from MW and see how it would pan out in the LW era.

The British forces in Version 4’s Great War return with new options. Cavalry and Armored Cars bolster the already solid British infantry formations. The British now have four formations they can take; Line Division Rifle Company, Elite Division Rifle Company, Canadian or ANZAC Rifle Company, and the Cavalry Squadron.

As Battlefront expands its Version 4 rules back to the battlefields of the Great War, Germany still remains the only representative of the Central Powers in the new lists. Though not as well equipped with tanks and armored cars as many of the Allies in the book, the German lists offer some interesting options for both previous and new German players.
The two lists options in Version 3’s Great War for the Germans has now been expanded to four list types in Version 4. These are the Infanteriekompanie, the Stosskompanie, the Jägerkompanie, and the Siegfriedstellung. The fist two of these will be familiar to previous German Great War players. The Jägerkompanie is an elite “light” infantry unit while Siegfriedstellung is more of an economy of force unit used to hold defensive positions.

After my initial tests with Leonid, the day had finally arrived. It’s been a while since I’ve been to any event other than the ones where I’m the TO, so I was eager to get going.
I had the good fortune of having my good friend Helge as “co-pilot” for the trip to Esbjerg. We were going to play three games, but we ended up playing 2½, as the last one (vs Helge) had to be done fast in order to get home to wife/kids.
My preparations
I have read the articles about the IPB by Chris Jackson (, ). I decided to try and do my best to take some notes before each battle and after, on a piece of paper in regards to my thoughts.
