The Charge of the Super Heavy Brigade

By Paolo Paglianti

Since arrived, we’ve seen four new books coming in place of the “old” (still valid) ones. Every new book has some sort of new equipment (as the BMP3 for the Soviets or the Warrior for the British), maybe some new formations (like the Gebirgsjager Brigade for Germans). But the new leading stars are definitely the new super heavy tanks. Each of the four new books has a new super-tank we can field, with armor so strong they can face almost any unfriendly attention without worrying to be killed. Are they worth their price?

Team Yankee West Germans Spoiled

By Howard West

The next new army book for has made it to our bunker in West Virginia and it is called WWIII West Germans, which will upgrade your FRG force to the same V2 standard we saw for the US, USSR, and the British. WWIII West Germans provides you with a single sourcebook for all of the West German forces in Team Yankee, this combines the inaugural book Leopard and Panzertruppen booklet with six new exciting formations. The book also provides some tweaks to the majority of the legacy formations and their respective units in them. If you have been waiting for the next Generation of Leopard-2 tanks and Marder Infantry Fighting Vehicles you will not be disappointed.

Tournament Report: Team Yankee at Creative Pursuit Games Leesburg, VA.

By Howard West, Photos by Dane Van Norden

Creative Pursuit Games (CPG) located in Leesburg; VA hosted a Team Yankee tournament on January 30th, 2021. CPG has been hosting small gaming tournaments during COVID based on the state of Virginia’s COVID-19 guidelines that are in place at the time of the event. Dane and his wife Kaitlin are great hosts and have a very nice and welcoming store.

In my previous article on I mentioned how some tournament organizers (TO) will provide the missions for the tournament, who the Attacker or Defender might be and that the points may vary per round. This tournament was a perfect example of this.

Dane also likes to provide a background narrative for the tournament, this one was called RED BLIZZARD. When Dane created the title for this the event, I doubt that he was giving the attendees a long-range weather forecast, but yes it did snow late Saturday evening thru Monday but it is January and it is winter in VA.

Team Yankee Analytics

By Howard West

I started playing in 2016 and attended my first tournaments in 2017. I had been playing for several years earlier and have been playing other miniatures games since the mid-seventies.

My first Team Yankee army was British and really enjoyed playing that army and decided to take it to two tournaments. In these tournaments, I faced five NATO opponents and one Warsaw PAC opponent. I played against two West German, two British, one American, and one Soviet opponent. At those two tournaments, the mix of armies entered was about 60-70% NATO vs the Warsaw Pact. Also at that time, the Oil Wars and Free Nations books had not been released.

Soon after playing in those two tournaments, one of the gamers at our local store put his partially painted Soviets up for sale and I scooped them up for a great price and had the basis for a decent starting Soviet Army. Fifty tournament games later I’m writing this article.

Battlefront Kit Review BRDM-2 Recon Platoon (Plastic) (TSBX24)

By Tom Burgess

Though I already have plenty of BRDM-2s, SA-9 Gaskins, and Spandrel AT launchers I could not pass up the great deal that the new World War III: Team Yankee (WW3:TY) Soviet army box was.  This gave me five BRDM-2 sprues that I was not sure I needed. I considered selling them or giving them away but decided I’d go ahead and build them to help get me to my goal of completing 365 Flames of War and WW3:TY teams in 2020. I also thought I could do a decent review article since I could compare these new plastic models to the older resin-metal models.

Battlefront Product Review: My Game Is In (City) Ruins

By Mitch Reed

Recently sent me some of their brand-new and I got around to finishing them just in time to make sure that they land on your holiday wish list. I usually do not collect too much terrain in 15mm however after recently getting a mat that looks like a torn-up battlefield, I decided to take this project on. Past buildings from Battlefront were usually one to three-story affairs made of resin and came pre-painted, these plastic kits are huge and very well done with five floors to expand your table upwards.
