The 1973 Arab-Israeli War, also known as the Yom Kippur War in Israel, and the Ramadan War in Arab countries, is the fourth war between the Arabs and the Israelis. The first being the 1948–49 Arab-Israeli War, second being the 1956 Suez War, and third being the 1967 six-day war. On October 6, 1973, Egyptian and Syrian forces launched a coordinated attack against Israel on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.
As a tournament organizer (TO), the choice of how to find the attacker/defender is a choice, that can have a significant impact on the lists you will see.
I started playing Flames Of War (FOW) about the time when version 3 came out. I have always been an organizer. One of those pesky types, that loves to see people gather and have fun, pushing their small homemade dolls, sorry soldiers around. Before FOW, I was active in another well known doll-pushing community. Always making events, small and big.
Greetings from Virginia. I wanted to start by introducing myself. I began my journey into tabletop wargaming as many of us do, with a force of plastic warriors from Games Workshop’s, Warhammer Fantasy.
I reveled in the joy of High elves before slowly getting bored with the game. I found a winning strategy ended up with who had spent more USD and not who had built a better force on paper or led his troops better.
I moved from Warhammer to a new game I had seen at my FLGS, Flames of War (FoW). This game seemed to have it all. Tactics, list building, and strong individual models (Yup I thought King Tigers were invincible, how quaint young me was.)

The 1967 Arab-Israeli War is the third war between the Arabs and the Israelis. The first being the 1948–49 Arab-Israeli War and the second being the 1956 Suez War. When reading historical accounts of the 1967 war, there is often national bias on the part of the author. For example, the Israelis claim they were provoked by an imminent Arab attack. The Arabs claim they were reacting to Israeli aggression toward Syria.
Background
Ever since the start of the first Arab-Israeli war in 1948, Israel had existed in a continued state of war with all of its Arab neighbors, including Iraq and Saudi Arabia. The first two wars were ended with cease-fires, but not with lasting peace. Thus, when the military forces of Egypt, Syria, Jordan, and Iraq, began to mobilize and make obvious preparations for war, Israel felt forced to act, in self-defense.

When IronFist Publishing and (PSC) first published their Overlord book in 2013, the tome weighed in at 240-ish pages. The book covered the Western Europe forces in D-Day operations, as well as D-Day+1 up until the defeat in the Falaise Pocket.
IronFist and PSC recently republished a partial re-release of the book: (BtB) that covers “the battles inland” after D-day. The reprint is slightly over half the pages of the original (at 136 pages).
Some of you may have heard our interviews with Jon Russel from . In our July 2017 interview he announced that a new air combat game would be hitting the market. That game, Blood Red Skies (BRS), has arrived.
I do recall asking him if Warlord would be able to put out an air combat game when the market has a lot titles to choose from, and no single game system as really been deemed as the benchmark. I have played Wings of Glory and Check Your Six in the past and I have a huge collection of bi-plane models.
I cannot say either game has really hooked me. Maybe it is the fact that I have been an “Airman” my entire adult life that leads me to be harder on air themed games. I believe that to be good, a game focused on air warfare either needs to be very detailed (which bogs it down) or super easy like an arcade game (rock, paper, scissors) and neither option is fun for me. At least not until BRS hit my gaming table.

The Montagnards are a tribal population dwelling in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. The name “Montagna rd” was first used by the French Colonial Forces in Indochina, referring to the indigenous population of the Central Highland region of Vietnam.
The French Experience
During the Indochina War, which began on 19 December 1946, and lasted until 1 August 1954. Fighting between French forces and their Viet Minh opponents in the south, led by Ho Chi Minh and the People’s Army of Vietnam (PAVN) led by Vo Nguyen Giap. On V-J Day, 2 Sep 1945, Ho Chi Minh had proclaimed the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV).

Everyone loves the Dutch! So says Austin Powers anyway. Anyone who has been to the Netherlands knows that the Dutch language seems to be half German and half English. Apparently, so is their military. Want to have the power and armor of the Leo 2? You get ’em. Want the staying Gone to Ground while shooting TOW missiles that the American M-901 gets with the Hammerhead rule? You get that too.

With Flames of War moving back to its Mid War desert roots, this seemed to make this year a good time to for me to build an 8th Army force to oppose my existing DAK German force. Even better, from my perspective, was that I’d be able to do this new force, even the infantry, in plastic. The announcement of this caught me off-guard as I recalled an earlier WWPD interview with Pete that indicated that Battlefront was steering away from plastic infantry. This was due to the fact a hard plastic infantry sprue took up the same time and effort as three hard plastic tank sprues. So I was caught quite by surprise with these new figures becoming available and I was excited that I’d get to move forward with an all plastic Battlefront 8th Army force.
