Let’s get Nuts

by Mitch Reed

We recently got a draft of the NUTS! 4th Edition which is currently wrapping up its Kickstarter Campaign. NUTS! Has been around since 2006 and this new edition represents the latest work of its developers to get a good WW2 miniatures skirmish game into the hands of our community.

Having played many WW2 skirmish games over the years, I can admit that many games share some of the same feel as others in the market and the experience often gets stale. NUTS! does not fall into that paradigm. While it shares many mechanics with other games (hard to avoid), it does have a lot of different rules that piqued my interest.

The British Are Coming: British Bulge Reviewed

By Mitch Reed

My first Flames of War army, which I swore would only be the only one I would ever use, was my late war British (painted as Canadians). While I did collect other nations, I always built and created British or Commonwealth lists as my collection grew. As the game went into V4, I had a lot of later war kit that did not have a new list, now with the British Bulge book, I can now get my Challengers and Comets back on the table.

I really liked the game and went “full afterburner” on collecting the many aircraft in the series. Since that 2016 release, the company has been quiet and while I thought they abandoned the series they turned around and released a digital port of their popular tabletop game.

By Mitch Reed

Did you fall in love with the mechanics of Blood & Plunder when the game first came out? Did playing Blood & Valor make you love games from Firelock even more? Well then you need to check out Blood & Steel, which uses the same game basic engine as previous titles, but now has you fighting in the Victorian Era.

Many gamers focus on specific historical periods because of an interest in the conflicts that took place during a particular era. Few are as popular as the 19th century, which saw conflicts all over the globe. This period contains some of the most popular game topics in our hobby.
