After , it’s time to deploy two armies and see how this ruleset works on the tabletop battle. As we told in the previous feature, we normally play 400 Army Points (AP) with 15 mm miniatures. In tournaments, we also use same period army: for this reason, here we have a 400 AP Later Carthaginian attacking the same size Bosphoran army. The two armies obviously never met in real History, but they came from the same DBMM period, the Classic 500 BC/476 AD. Will Hannibal prevail or meet another Zama?

I have begun testing various MW Infantry lists and trying to use them as the aggressor/attacker. It is my belief that infantry lists could be played very aggressively and with good effect. To define “infantry list” it means that the majority of the points are put in infantry formations. It is not an “all out infantry list” with no gun teams or vehicles or tanks, nor is it only 1 infantry formation.

I will try to share my knowledge/experiences. Be aware, that it is NOT a “how to”- manual, but simply meant as an inspiration for the readers to develop further, if they are interested in playing infantry lists.

I will use 100 points as my list size. Effects may vary depending on the point size.

When a military staff at any level receives a mission from their higher headquarters, one of the first things they work on is an Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (IPB). This process defines the battlefield in terms of area, effects of the terrain, and how the terrain and the enemy will affect the ability of the unit to accomplish its assigned mission.

It provides the commander and staff a framework to determine how they will accomplish the mission by defining what decisions the commander needs to make about where to allocate his resources and what signs from the enemy to look for that indicate his intentions. Units are then assigned tasks based on these decisions and the process begins at the next lower headquarters.

The Engines Walk

This past summer, Games Workshop released a new version of the old warhorse, .  Originally released in the late 80s, the game simulates mighty battles of the gigantic war engines of the 40th and 41st millenniums of the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

Like the original game from the old days, this one concerns the battles of Titans during Horus Heresy, a seminal turning point in the history of humankind.  Brother fought brother, and for the first time, the mighty war engines of the Adeptus Mechanicus known as Titans turned their massive guns on one another in the name of the Emperor of Mankind, or his treacherous son, Horus.

I am one of those guys… you know them… one of those guys who is always positive and smiling and happy. My wife often reminds me that she considers it a disease and I should have some sort of medication to become less positive. But so far, I have dodged the Danish Health System in regards to this matter.

That is why I will now provide you with an optimistic view of British Infantry. YES – I know… British lists seem to be very rarely at the top of the list when it comes to tournaments, though I’m sure it does happen occasionally.

In the middle of a steaming hot summer, with a pregnant wife and a job, where a lot of colleges are on holiday, I found the time for a game with one of my friends. We are going to play in a Total War battle in October, where we will be fighting for Kiev. We decided to test some of my 4000 points list in a friendly game. The game would be on his new table, which is meant for a Stalingrad battle, that is also in the making.

Plastic Soldier Company (PSC) released their plastic Valentine Infantry Tank in 20mm and 15mm scales. Back on April 18, 2018, the PSC 15mm kit was reviewed by Troy Hill (NDNG Editor) and this review follows in similar fashion for the 20mm or 1/72 scale model. These model tanks are a welcome addition for any gaming rules using 20mm models, with an eye toward North Africa, the Italian campaign up the long boot of Italy, or even the Eastern Front with Valentines as Lend-Lease.

The first Annual Pea Bowl was held at Pea Soup Anderson’s Restaurant in the heart of Santa Barbara Wine Country; the restaurant is located in the city of Buellton, California just a short drive north of the city of Santa Barbara. The event was originally imagined as a Team Yankee tournament and evolved into a general games day. Games of DBA, Flames of War and HG Wells’ Little Wars were hosted in addition to the Team Yankee tournament. The event was a success and I am glad to have accomplished hosting an event in my local area as I normally have to travel substantial distances to attend any gaming events.

In the new Eastearn Front book for the Soviets, Red Banner, the Soviet players has many interesting choices.

When I was planning this article, I had to choose what to focus on. I have many thoughts about the new German book, Ghost Panzers and what I think it will do to the tournaments I attend. I don’t really find a concern when it comes to the Historic Scenarios or events, as I generally find the books to be fairly balanced towards each other.

However, in this situation, I have had a hard time recovering from the Ferdinand/Marder combination, that I think many will be fielding. Being an eternal optimist, I was certain that I could find something, that would balance the new meta that the German players will have with Ghost Panzers. Here I believe I have found something, that might make a big dent in the Ferdi/Marder combo. On top of that, it might be able to be of interest in tournaments, but I’m uncertain how much I would appreciate it in a historic setting.
